On October 25th at 8:45 a.m. Dra. Pavlidis will speak in the Monogastric Nutrition and Feeding Hall about “Natural solutions for mitigating the effect of pathogens and reestablishing sensitivity to antibiotics in poultry“.
As Director, Poultry Research & Technical Services, Dra. Hilary Pavlidis is responsible for planning and developing poultry research projects as well as technical support, including the areas of poultry performance, health, and food safety. She also oversees research project monitoring and technical communications, including pre-harvest interventions to improve food safety.
Dr. Pavlidis earned her B.S. in Animal and Poultry Science at Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University) and her M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas. Her research focused on evaluating the effects of divergent selection for ascites in broilers on mortality, growth, meat yield and quality. She also developed broiler chicken lines selected for high and low muscle color to investigate the genetic and physiologic relationships with atypical meat.
Before joining Diamond V as a Poultry Specialist in 2015, Dr. Pavlidis held positions as Pedigree Geneticist with Cobb-Vantress in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and Program Geneticist with Aviagen Turkeys in Lewisburg, West Virginia. She has been the President of the Poultry Breeders of America and a member of the Poultry Science Association, where she continues to serve as an associate editor for the peer-review journal Poultry Science. In addition to her academic credentials, Dr. Pavlidis brings more than 10 years of professional experience in the areas of applied genetics and poultry production.
